World Environment Day 2019 At Waroiching

          The global theme for 2019 World Environment Day was "Beat Air Pollution". Jointly organised by A Hundred Trees, Woods And Earth and Waroiching Youth Development Club a one day observation of World Environment Day was held at Waroiching on 5th June, 2019. Waroiching is a tiny Meetei village which lies on the Sadu Chiru Waterfall Road after Leimaram.

          The day started with gathering of volunteers and all participants at Woods And Earth, a campsite property on the eastern foothill of Waroiching. Various tree saplings were planted around the Waroiching Mahadeva Lampak and along the vacant lands bordering Waroiching and Ichum Keirap village. Picking of plastic waste along the village roads was the first act of the day. It was followed by tree plantation which includes looking for favorable spots, cleaning of plantation area, digging of earth, plantation and watering of the plants after.

          While a team do the tree plantation rest were involved with plastic picking. It was a hot sunny day with high humidity but non of the volunteers fall back till all the activities were complete. More than a hundred tree saplings were planted on the day. Lunch was served at 1:30 pm.

          A light musical performance by local bands and artist was held just after the lunch. They include Chromatic Fusion, Meewakching, Chingangam Shrikant (solo) and Unsung Defiance who enthralled the tired crowd at Woods And Earth. Apart from the musical performers all individuals and crew who participated were self voluntary through prior registrations. Non of the artist gets paid for their performance including transportation. Instead they also participated in all the activities of the day.


          All financial expanses of the day were incurred or sponsored by A Hundred Trees and Woods And Earth.
